Creating Your Account on the AHA Website

To access your certification cards, you need to create an account on the American Heart Association (AHA) website. This is a mandatory step. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Visit the AHA website.
  2. Click on "Sign Up" at the top right corner of the homepage.
  3. Fill in the required information and create a password.
  4. NOTE: Use the same email address you used to register, creating an account, and in the course roster when you attend the classroom.
  5. Verify your email address by clicking on the link sent to your inbox.

***Note for ACLS and PALS Courses (Blended and Classroom)***

Students are required to complete the online precourse assessment and bring this to class with you or email it including your course date and we will add to your file. The precourse assessment is free but is accessed on the AHA shopping site before it appears in your learning account to complete. Once complete you receive a score and certificate.

Student Manuals and Other Resources

The American Heart Association requires all students to have a course manual either in printed format (allow time for shipping) or eBook format. Students are allowed to use this manual and any algorithm cards for the exam.

Purchase materials directly from AHA website.

Blended Learning

The following applies to any discipline that you complete online and then verify your skills. For those enrolled in a blended course, here’s what you need to know:

  1. Course Requirements: Blended learning combines online coursework with in-person skills sessions.
  2. Accessing eLearning Course: Log in to your AHA account to access the eLearning course. You can find it here.
  3. Skills Session Preparation: After completing the online portion, prepare for your in-person skills session. Bring your completion certificate and be ready to demonstrate your skills.

Classroom Learning

If you are attending a traditional classroom course:

  • Course Requirements: Arrive on time and ready to engage in both lecture and hands-on practice.
  • Preparation: Review any pre-course materials provided and come with any questions you may have.

Expectations

Our classes are designed to be casual and comfortable. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Dress Code: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity. You will be on the ground and running through scenarios.
  • Accommodations: If you need special accommodations, please email us at camt@esoeducation.org
  • Behavior Policy: Intoxicated students will be dismissed without a refund. Respectful behavior is expected at all times. Disruptive students will be asked to leave without refund. Aggressive behavior will result in law enforcement response. No weapons are allowed in premises.
  • Food and Drink: You are welcome to bring food and drinks. Please stow them during skills sessions. Classes, except for BLS and Heartsaver, will have a lunch break. Feel free to use your preferred app to have food delivered to the training location.

Accessing Your Completion Card

Once you have completed your course, follow these steps to access your eCard. The below steps are from the AHA website.

Claim your eCard via Email:

  1. You will receive an email from eCards@heart.org with a link inviting you to claim your eCard online. Please make sure to check your spam or junk folder. This link will direct you to the Student Profile webpage; please confirm that all information on that page (First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number (if entered for claiming by SMS), eCard Code, AHA Instructor Name, and Training Center information) is correct. If it is not, contact your Training Center.
  2. Set up your security question and answer. Accept the terms of the site and click “Submit.”
  3. Complete the survey on the course you just completed. Your answers to these questions will help improve the quality of future AHA training.
  4. After you complete the survey, your eCard will display. You can save or print your eCard.
  5. Once your eCard has been claimed, you will receive an email notification; please save this confirmation email for your records.
  6. Claiming your eCard is the only way you can show proof of course completion to your employer. If you need to email your eCard, please see step 5 under “How to View your Claimed eCard”.

Claim your eCard via eCards Site:

  2. If all the information was entered correctly, you will be brought to a page that shows “My eCards.” Look for your eCard that is “Unclaimed” and follow the steps through the site to claim your card, including setting up a security question and answer. If your eCard cannot be found, contact your Training Center to verify your information.
